I can't even begin to describe how wonderful my experience with Boston Pain Relief Massage has been. I was unsure of what to expect when I made the first appointment, but was ready to try anything! I was diagnosed with cancer and had 3 very painful abdominal surgeries, and when the pain lingered for far too long, I was desperate. Lucy has MAGIC fingers! It wasn't a traditional massage, more a targeted approach to where my pain was. It was interesting to hear how everything is inter-connected - if the pain was in my back, there was a blockage of circulation and working my legs was an important step towards helping the situation. Sometimes the pressure applied was tough to take. Lucy told me to breathe through it, and in the end, her treatment made all the difference in the world! For the first time in a long time, I felt good. She suggested cupping would help me as well. I was a little nervous, but went for it... and I am so glad I did! Her knowledge of the body, combined with her skill in acupressure was worth every dime I paid. If you're looking for a traditional massage, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for targeted pain relief, run, don't walk to see Lucy!

Wow. I thought I was going in for a general 'distress' treatment, but Lucy gave me quite a workout. The 1-hr treatment was a combination of acupressure/pressure point work, massage, and physical therapy, with a little chiropractic thrown in. The acupressure hurt where I had blockages, but the end result was well worth the pain. I left there floating, like walking on air--feeling pretty high, as if all my happy hormones had been turned on. Plus, I had increased range of motion in arms/shoulders (she worked on remnants of two past injuries), and felt a distinct increase in the flow/circulation of energy through my entire body. I felt more balanced too, along with a decrease of muscle tension, which changed the way I held my body afterwards (so as to maintain the ease and balance). I appreciated the dialogue during the treatment, and the ease of reaching Lucy by phone when I had to call later with a question. Lucy is 'the real deal,', and I have already recommended her to several others. All in all, a very positive experience, and I plan to return in the future.

The services and care Lucy and here team provide are outstanding. They have changed my life in a very profound way. After a few years into a stressful finance job I found myself slowly physically declining. I was having vertigo and fatigue. I was exercising and eating right but I wasn't seeing any physical improvement. My vertigo was so bad one day that I couldn't walk. I went to a doctor and was bounced to specialists, had blood test, and MRIs for over a year. Nothing was conclusive. Doctors did not have any explanations or solutions. One year and thousands of dollars with no results. As time went I was a walking zombie. I didn't feel like myself. As a former collegiate athlete being unable to perform physically was not okay for me mentally. Upon a referral from a co-worker who could tell I was suffering I booked an appointment with Lucy.
My first appointment with Lucy was amazing. I gave her my story. She listened to every detail. Asked questions. Nodded along in an understanding way and provided insight and feedback. This was the first experience I had with someone understanding. Most of the time people would brush me off as if I was just weak and doctors would just tell me they can't give an explanation. Lucy was the first person who understood all these symptoms and was able to tie them to my work and lifestyle. After information gathering I had an Acupressure session for an hour. After that hour I felt amazing. I felt better than I had in years. I had mobility and mental clarity that I thought was gone forever.
I continued my weekly sessions with Lucy for 5 weeks. Each session would get a little deeper and would be more restorative. At the end of the five weeks I felt like my old self again. The vertigo was gone, my vision was better, I had more physical and mental stamina. My endurance and workouts improved. I lost fat, and gained muscle. I feel like I'm 18 again.
It is hard to express in these few word how talented, thoughtful, and dedicated Lucy and here team are. They gave me my life back and I have the utmost gratitude for everything they have done. If you are in pain, fatigued, mentally rundown, physically run down, or just confused about why you are feeling a certain way Lucy and Bost

My first two acupressure massage appointments have been with Sam, and I have made an appointment for every single week he in Boston. I have a history of chronic upper back pain that is so painful I cannot sleep some nights. It hurts so much that when I sit for hours in class I will feel like I am about to pass out, and my breathing gets slower and more shallow. I have gone to two chiropractors, two rolfers, a doctor of osteopathic manipulative medicine, and have had plenty of deep tissues massages. While I can admit that sometimes these therapies have temporarily relieved some pain or tension, my acupressure sessions with Sam have honestly relieved pain for much longer and released tension from deeper than I have ever experienced. My pain is virtually gone and it does not interfere with my daily life any longer.
He has a lot of different training and decades worth of experience. I really like that he combines his acupressure massage training with chiropractic adjustments. I feel that he is addressing the root of the problem from several angles. I truly trust his knowledge. Not only is he skillful in his art, but he truly has such a kind and peaceful soul. He genuinely cares for his patients and will give all of himself to give his clients the best care. Even my mood feels better after being with such a caring and positive provider.
I should mention this is going to feel different than a deep tissue massage. For me, deep tissue massage will be a lot of pressure on tense muscles. Sometimes I would get my trapezius muscles worked the entire hour deeply because they are so tight and full of knots. This "pain" may be easier to grit because my muscles are so hard. From my experience, it seems that acupressure massage will target specific areas that the practitioner is aware of. You may experience soreness in an area that you didn't know was bothering you. This isn't going to be like a relaxation massage, but when the acupressure massage is over, and for days after, you will feel decreased pain and increased mobility. At least I did. But I would recommend that you don't go in thinking you know what to expect. This will be different than the massage you are used to but the benefits will be well worth it.

I have been going to this practice for little over a year with amazing results!
What one must know, perhaps through a little research, Acupressure massage is very different from what an 'experienced massage receiver' might encounter. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treats the root of the problem and doesn't simply treat the symptoms, and the massage moves from light touch to what can be brief intense pain. Remember, they are getting to the root of the problem and awakening natural healing energies that have been lying dormant for quite awhile. When I first started with the 'the man that didn't seem to speak English' I suffered from diabetes and had been in a three years fight with an increasing PSA (an indicator of high risk for prostate cancer). Dr. Li treated me with massage and natural teas and of 2 months ago my PSA was well within the Normal range and I haven't taken any diabetes medication in months! Although I probably shouldn't do, on occasion, indulge my sweet tooth without spiking glucose readings.
If they had simply pointed out their concerns, like with me, Dr. Li involved a therapist that was more versed in English and we addressed all of my issues and concerns.
I should also point out that many of the therapists can 'feel' your areas pain and illness. They also 'read' your tongue to determine dis-ease in your body.
A few points: Dr. Li speaks little English but will do his utmost to engage in conversation if a patient initiates a conversation. *Many people receiving a massage opt not to converse.
Dr. Li immigrated to the US approximately six years ago at the age of 60 and studies hours each day to learn our language. He has been licensed doctor of TCM for over 40 years.

“I worked in a very busy coffee shop as a store manager for more than 10 years. The long hours, work load, and stress took a toll on my body. I had constant pains in my neck, shoulders, and back all the time for many years and I was tired all the time because I couldn’t sleep at night. I was irritable and moody and I wanted to cry for no reasons at all to a point that it affected my family and personal life. I had to quit my job to give my body a break. I had seen doctors, physical therapists, and chiropractors for years with little help. I was still in pain all the time. A friend of mine told me about pain relief therapist, Lucy Lu Allen, and her magic therapies. With my pains, I would try anything. I had nothing to lose but the pains. I was so glad I did go to see Lucy. She used the traditional Chinese Qigong Acupressure technique to release my stress from the pressure points. It was painful but they were good pains. I was crying like a baby throughout the first session, but I felt so much better afterwards. I felt pains all over my body after the second session. She explained to me the stress and toxins travelled all over the meridians of my body and she took two hours to release them. Believe or not, I instantly felt so much better and I felt my whole body opened up I was a new person. I felt so good that I couldn’t help dancing when I got off her massage table. I went to see Lucy for about 6 more sessions and each time she used different techniques to cleanse all the stress and toxins built up in my body over the years of overworked and no rest. She has me on a maintenance program that I see her once or twice a month. She explains to me that my body is like a car. I need to use it properly and take care of it and keep up with the maintenance. Can’t just use it and eventually it will break down. She is an angel!”

“I had stomach issues for more than 40 years since I was 13 years old. My stomach couldn’t digest any food and I am bloated all the time. I had seen many doctors and specialist. My friend told me to get a massage from Lucy. I figured I just needed to feel relax. Little that I know she fixed my problems in a few sessions. She worked on my chest and my abdomen areas in the first session and within 20 minutes I started burping like a baby, she told me to let go all the feeling inside and breathe deep and relax. It was like a miracle. I felt so relief and better right away, a feeling of relief after 40 years of pain and suffering. I felt so good after two sessions, that I couldn’t help trying to eat foods that used to make me cramped up. Now, not only 90% of my pains are gone, but I also gain weight ( before I was very skinny from malnutrition). I feel so much better and happier. I look younger and healthier that my face is glowing. My friends are all asking me what I did to get myself better. I told them about Lucy and I want them to see her if they have any similar problems like mine and don't waste any time to suffer like I did. I am so happy now. She saved my life!”

“I had prostate issue and my doctor gave me medications and suggested that I might need surgery. Lucy helped me recondition my body and along with taking some Chinese herbal teas, I am now a very strong and healthy man. No more prostate issues! No more medications needed! No surgery! I would never thought acupressure massage therapy can help me with my prostate issue. Mucho mucho gracias Lucy!”

I came to Lucy barely able to walk across my living room, and I am 34 not 84! I had pulled a muscle in my back at the gym, and having already seen my primary physician for the same ailment, decided to try something alternative. Lucy fit me in right away, and being in pain, that meant a lot. She made room for me in her schedule for over 5 weeks to make sure I healed correctly, and righted the imbalances in my system. Not only did I see an improvement in my back muscle, but my whole body. Lucy treats the person, not a symptom, and applies her Eastern philosophy of care for a holistic treatment. I love the way I feel after her treatments and have continued to work in visits to maintain my health. I have recommended Lucy to anyone who suffers from an acute pain issue to even a friend that has more systemic issues because truly believe that there is something to getting my Chi following correctly and I want others to realize the benefits this powerful and productive treatment can produce.
